The Kohane Lab annual Escalade Party was a great success! Each year, this party celebrates Dan’s hometown of Geneva and its successful defense against an attempted conquest. Troops from the Duchy of Savoy attempted a surprise invasion on the city in the December of 1602, but (according to legend) were repulsed by a cook who dumped a cauldron of boiling soup on enemy soldiers who were scaling the walls in the dead of night; the resulting noise roused the entire city and the attackers were promptly driven away. The highlight of the event was the beautiful Swiss chocolate cauldron stuffed to the brim with marzipan veggies and more chocolate. It was a wonderful end to an amazing year at the Kohane Lab, with time for lab members to celebrate with friends, family, and food. There is much to be thankful for!
