After three years of accumulating ice, and countless ear-piercing alarms, the -20 degree freezer has finally been thawed. Our own resident refrigeration specialist Patrick was the brave man who took on the challenge, ensuring that research in the Kohane lab will flourish for many years to come.

On June 1st, Brian Timko was promoted to Instructor of Anaesthesia at Boston Children’s Hospital. He has been working in the lab for four years and is developing new nanomaterials for cardiac tissue scaffolds, cancer therapy, and remotely-triggerable drug delivery systems.

On Thursday, May 30th, Al Kwon graduated from Harvard Medical School. On May 26th, Tzahi Cohen-Karni and Borja Salvador Culla participated in the 9th Annual Boston’s Run to Remember Half Marathon. This is a historic 13.1 mile run through downtown Boston to honor Massachusetts Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty. On the early morning of February 23rd, Hunghao Chu’s daughter was born. Evelyn Chu was born weighing 7 pounds and 8 ounces and 20 inches in length.
On Tuesday, Feb. 19th, the Kohane group gathered to celebrate the recent promotions of Dr. Christopher Weldon and Dr. Joseph Ciolino to Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School. During dinner, Dan gave a speech congratulating the two on their recent career advancements.
